摘要

Adocumented health program won't only improve the selling price of your weaned calves, it may dictate whether they sell at all, says Mike King. The Colorado State University animal scientist analyzed the effect of health program status on the sellingprice of 1,793 lots (representing 220,545 head) sold through nine Superior Livestock video auctions last fall. The study was funded by Pfizer Animal Health. Calves that had not been vaccinated were twice as likely to "no sale" as calves meeting Vac 34 orVac 45 requirements (see Table I). Nearly 20% of the unvaccinated lots didn't sell at all.
