Existing methods to study the aggregate porosity are examined. The need to develop new methods is shown. The theoretical basis for modeling soil aggregates of irregular shape is presented. The methodology of studying soil aggregate porosity is explained in detail, and the necessary number of replicates of the experiment is suggested. The applicability of the photographic method is confirmed for different soils. The field of application of data on the soil aggregate porosity as obtained by the methodof image analysis is specified.
