Bespoke tagging system sparks major return on investment: UK fresh produce company Worldwide Fruit has been enjoying the benefits of its recent investment in RFID technology

DURING the past two years, UK-based fresh produce business Worldwide Fruit has seen significant returns on the RFID system it developed in 2003, according to operations manager Dave West. Prompted by the increasingly exacting requirements of Marks & Spencer, one of its major retail clients, the investment in tracking technology has seen the company raise its order fulfilment level to 100 per cent, substantially reduce its operational and supply chain costs, and improve the availability of its produce on the supermarket shelves.
