Monitoring of the soil cover in the Terek River delta

Long-term variations in the soil cover of the Terek River delta are assessed on the basis of the research data obtained in periods of natural evolution and active anthropogenic development of this area (in the 1930s, 1960s, and 1980s). Changes in the soil cover pattern and the degrees of salinization and desertification of the territory are considered. Quantitative characteristics of soil degradation are determined, and the dynamics of soil salinity in particular areas is revealed. On this basis, the periodicity of the soil cover monitoring necessary to control the development of adverse processes is established.
