Behcet's disease with superior vena cava syndrome related to pacemaker leads: a case report.

A 14-year-old male patient presented with swelling on his face and distension in the neck and chest vessels. Transvenous permanent pacemaker had been implanted because of sick sinus syndrome 3 years ago. There was oedema in the head-neck, he had jugular venous distension and varicose enlargement in the superficial veins of the chest indicating superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome. On venography, the left subclavian vein has not been filled, and blood flow has been reduced in the right subclavian vein (see figure). On gastrointestinal eridoscopy, varicose veins were observed in the oesophagus; colonoscopy showed an ulcer in the ileum. Behcet's disease (BD) was considered for this patient owing to the presence of extensive venous thrombosis, the signs of endoscopy/colonoscopy, oral aphthae, and history of BD in the mother's later detailed history.
