A new species of the orthocladiine genus Propsilocerus (Diptera, Chironomidae) from Taimyr Peninsula

Male of the new orthocladiine species Propsilocerus taimyrus from the Polar Region (Taimyr Peninsula, environs of Norilsk) is described. The species is similar to P. jacuticus (Zvereva) (Saether, 1997) in the structure of antenna, 5-segmented maxillary palp, and presence of pre-episternal setae; clearly differing in the presence of posterior anepisternal (PA II) setae, structure of the anal process and ventral lobe of gonocoxite, number of thoracic setae (Dc, Pa, Pes), and the antennal index. Adultsemerge in early June.
