Morphology of the second instars of Polea martini and Polea selangorae(Coccoidea : Asterolecaniidae)

The second instars of the pit scales (Asterolecaniidae) Polea martini and P. selangorae are described and illustrated with measurements included for the various morphological structures. Both species were collected on species of Calophyllum sp. from Borneo and Singapore, respectively. These species are morphologically similar to immatures of Grammococcus in the New World. Polea martini is distinguished from P. selangorae by the presence of an anal ring with 6 setae, more multilocular pores in the dorsal pore clusters, and differences in the tubular ducts.
