In the editors' words "Equine Respiratory Medicine and Surgery provides clinicians, undergraduate and post graduate students, and research scientists with a fully comprehensive, state-of-the-art reference source, written by world leaders in the fieldof equine respiratory disease". Whilst the majority of the authors are highly respected clinicians the book benefits greatly from contributions by prominent authors in other related disciplines such as veterinary anaesthesia, epidemiology, pathology andphysiology. It is surprising that this is the first book to provide in-depth discussion of both medical and surgical aspects of equine respiratory disease. The book is laid-out in 7 sections sub-divided into manageable chapters. The style and layout areconsistent throughout and there is minimal repetition between sections as occurs in some multi-author texts. The order is logical and the index section is comprehensive allowing rapid navigation to the topic of interest. The major strength of this book is the image reproduction; colour photographs and diagrams are numerous and of high quality.
