African oil refiners said they are ready to do battle against "unfair"competition from the rising tide of oil product exports into the continent from refineries in Asia and the Middle East.At its recent second general meeting in Cape Town in South Africa, the one-year-old African Refiners Association (ARA)said it is concerned about the impact of the "tsunami of oil products shortly to hit Africa from new refineries in Asia and the Middle East."It said that up to 50 million metric tons of refined product - or 78% of the annual consumption of the 48 sub-Saharan countries in Africa - is expected to be added to the world market by 2010.
