In the United States, annual meadow-grass (Poo annua var. annua (annual biotype) or Poo annua var. reptans L. (perennial biotype)) is often viewed as an undesirable weed, especially in the southeastern United States. In the northeastern and midwesternUnited States it is also considered less attractive than creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera). Thus, US golf course superintendents often exert a great deal of effort in the management and control of annual meadow-grass, and various herbicidal strategies for this control abound.
