This work was carried out at the Experimental Farm of the Cultivation and Production of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Department of the National Research Centre at Giza during two successive seasons 1996/97 and 1997/98. The field experiments were carried out to study the effect of kinetin and or foliar spray of stimophol (Complete nutrient compound) on the growth, yield and its components and chemical composition of sweet fennel (Foenicuhun vulgar Mill. var. dulce) plants. The data revealed that spraying sweet fennel plants with kinetin alone or in combination with stimophol had, a significant positive effect in most cases on growth parameters and fresh and dry weight of leaves, branches and bulbs. Spraying sweet fennel plants with the mixture ofkinetin at 80 ppm and foliar spray of stimophol at 0.4 percent gave the highest economic yield of fresh vegetative herb (ton/fed) and seeds (kg/fed). Spraying plants with the same mixture of kinetin and stimophol attained significant increase in oil yield of fresh herb and seeds. Application of kinetin, foliar spray of stimophol and their combination treatments in general increased total carbohydrate, protein content and macro-elements. A marked changes in amino acid compositions was observed.
