Selection and evaluation of a superior local orange (Baladi) tree.

摘要

The superior strain of orange (Baladi) was evaluated based on growth and yield performance as well as on physical and chemical characteristics of fruit. The superior selected strain was found to be significant over local orange strain in having fruit weight (up to 200 gm), less number of seeds per fruit (+or-15), attractive fruit color without creasing, juice percentage (46.9-50.5%) and yield per tree (206.59-213.62 kg). DNA fingerprint was also determined through. RAPD technique using twelve primers to identify unique molecular markers characterizing the superior selected strain. The highest number (11) positive unique markers and four negative markers were characterized by the superior selected strain. Superior selected strain has been characterized by eleven unique markers (positive-7, negative-4). Opb11 reveals three positive and/or negative markers in superior selected strain.
