The first ever elevator in India was installed within a heritage building of Kolkata 's sprawling Raj Bhawan way hack in 1892. It was done by Otis Elevator Company. The company itself has, therefore, become a heritage brand. Otis has never had to look back. It continues to be the world's largest manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways, with a current turnover of $57.7 billion-plus.
