Water linkage to Posco project draws local ire

Posco-India, the South Korean steel major which is planning to set up a 12-million tonne steel project in Orissa's Jagatsinghpur district, is surrounded by another controversy. This time, its the water linkage to the project from the Mahanadi has drawn the local ire. Save Mahanadi, an outfit floated to protest water linkage to Posco-India from Mahanadi barrage near Cuttack, has demanded a water commission to probe into the matter. The Save Mahanadi leaders, Bijaya Mo-hapatra and Panchanan Kanun-go, met the Orissa governor, Mu-ralidhar Chandarkanata Bhandare, and submitted a memorandum demanding an inquiry into the matter.
