Operators often choose coiled tubing (CT) as the placement method for many stimulation technologies, such as matrix acidizing and fracturing. For these applications, CT has advantages compared to bullhead-ing, including saving total fluid volume and ensuring that the fluids reach their intended locations. Very deep or deviated wells require long, thick-walled CT strings that make the full drum extremely heavy. For offshore applications in particular, crane capabilities can limit CT string lengths.
