The world is waking up to the very real challenges posed by climate change. There is now a broad scientific consensus that changing weather patterns are unavoidable even if we do manage to drastically reduce carbon emissions in future years. Our climate is already on the move. Temperatures are one degree higher on average than they were in the 1970s. Over the last decade Britain has experienced a series of serious flooding events. Climate scientists predict that temperatures will continue to rise and weather become more extreme over the next few decades.
