Building Engineers are well aware that there is extensive guidance on the provision of access into, and movement within buildings. Indeed, one of the ABE's Honorary Fellows, Lord Morris of Manchester, was the driving force behind anti-discrimination laws for people with disabilities. In 1974, Alf Morris was the first Minister for the Disabled and the current Building Regulations and Disability Discrimination Acts owe much to his untiring hard work to change society's prejudiced views of disabled people.
