The concept of 'lean operations' is not a new one. In fact, it has been a recognised philosophy for more than ten years now. But while the idea of minimising waste in operational processes may have developed significant recognition as an effective and prudent way to structure commercial enterprises, the idea of applying this concept to the physical construct which houses daily operations is one which has been slow to take off. However, times change. Efficiency is now not just about getting things done on time, it is about maximising use of energy and money in all areas - and that includes construction.
