India offered to step up long-term energy cooperation with Turkmenistan this week during a visit to New Delhi by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov. Indian officials led by oil minister Murli Deora said they had offered to invest in Turkmenistan’s gas fields and set up a petro- chemical plant in the Central Asian country if India were guaranteed gas supplies for the project, according to Dow Jones Newswires.
