Woodside Announces Costly Delay in Australian Pluto-1 LNG Project

The first train of the Pluto LNG project in Australia will be delayed by six months, a setback which is expected to push up project costs by A$900 million (US$867 million), operator Woodside announced Tuesday. The liquefaction plant will produce its first LNG only by the end of August, with first shipments starting in September, com- pared to an earlier startup and shipment tar- get of end-February and end-March respec- tively. This comes after Woodside flagged possible delays last month (IOD Oct.25,p4).
