UK Independent Tethys Claims New Kazakh Oil Province

An oil discovery in Kazakhstan by UK in- dependent Tethys Petroleum could open up a new oil province on the shores of the Aral Sea, Chief Executive David Robson says. “We believe we have made the first sub- stantial discovery of oil in the region,” Rob- son told the Kazakhstan Growth Forum or- ganized in London last week by Adam Smith Conferences. The nearest established oil fields are “several hundred kilometers away,” he said.
