Sea change in cruise ship propulsion

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have become the first cruise ship operators to opt for gas turbine propulsion in a COGES configuration. This technological shift away from diesel electric results in 80-98 reductions in exhaust emissions and much lower levels of noise and vibration. Up to six of their Voyager- and Millennium-class vessels will be the first cruise ships ever powered by General Electric's gas and steam turbines.
