China imported 4.2 million barrels per day of crude in September, up 14.5% from a year ago, according to customs data released Monday. This put China's average imports in the third quarter at 4.41 million b/d, which represents a 24.4% jump from the same time in 2008. Saudi Arabia was the largest crude supplier to China in September despite a 9.7% fall to 898,000 b/d. Angola was second as supplies jumped 35% to 709,000 b/d. Supplies from Iran dropped 31.8% to 317,000 b/d while volumes from Iraq soared.
