Asian crude oil demand remains strong, re- flected in the fact the front of the Dubai curve has held on to the slight backwardation it flipped into two weeks previously (IOD Nov.19,p4). Spot deals in Asia have seen some of the highest premiums of the year as refiners try to take advantage of decent winter refining margins, compounded by diesel shortages in China that have strengthened cracks for middle distillates.
