Shell Fast-Tracks Iraq Power Plant Tender

Royal Dutch Shell is fast-tracking a tender for a new power plant in Khor Zubair as it aims to make swift progress at its gas megaventure in Iraq, industry sources say. The 50 megawatt facility in southern Iraq will help take the load off the electricity grid and increase the reliability of supply. An engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract will be issued for tender soon - once contractors are short-listed and the subsequent bidding process is concluded. The government of Iraq and Shell have already bought a turbine each for the plant.
