Unconventional gas exploration is still in its infancy in Europe, but the baby is grow- ing up fast. Over the past three months the first exploration wells have been drilled in Poland, considered one of Europe’s most promising areas for shale gas exploration. ConocoPhillips and UK-based partner Lane Energy began drilling the Lebien LE1 well in mid-June in the onshore Baltic Basin of northern Poland. The well is expected to reach target depth within six to eight weeks, Lane said.
