The Jordanian government inked an agreement on Sunday with BP for exploration and development of Risha gas field. This deal could help the country with a bulk of its energy needs (IOD Oct.14,p6). The UK supermajor will spend approximately $237 million in an eight-well exploration program in the 7,000 squarekilometer concession area near the border with Iraq, which includes the Risha field. The exploration will last three to five years, depending on whether BP uses its extension options.
