Nigeria Rebels Claim Attack Despite Government Amnesty Offer

Nigeria's main oil militant group on Friday claimed to have carried out a new attack in the Niger Delta, shortly after President Umaru Yar'Adua offered an amnesty. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) said it attacked a well-head operated by Royal Dutch Shell in the Afremo oil field because the military had gone on a "punitive expedition" in Delta state.
