摘要

Using an assumed nutrient value for wheat in diet formulation may penalise nutrient utilisation in wheats that have lower nutrient content relative to the assumed value but this may have no effect on whole-body energy utilisation.Feed formulation for broilers depends on the use of book values of nutrient composition of ingredients. It is accepted that there are huge variabilities in nutrient content of unconventional feedstuffs (Olukosi & Adebiyi, 2013) but generally assumed thatmore conventional feedstuffs have lower variability in nutritive value. This assumption though can have negative effects on nutrient utilisation, and possibly net energy content of diets, when the nutrient profile of specific feedstuffs used in diet vary considerably from the assumed values. The current experiment was done in broilers to study the effect of using assumed nutrient values for wheat samples of variable chemical composition.
