Familial brucellosis: A report of four patients. of the International Society for Infectious Diseases

We report four cases of brucellosis in a family living in Konya in Turkey.Case A. A 16-year-old boy was admitted to the hospital with a fifteen-day history of pain and swelling of the left knee, fever and difficulty walking. He had a temperature of 38.3deg C, ESR of 40 mm/h, C-reactive protein (CRP) level of 50 mg/dl, and brucella agglutination titer of 1/160. Blood and synovial fluid cultures were sterile. He was treated for three weeks with streptomycin and for six weeks with doxycycline.
