Optimization of Machining time at Multi-pass Turning in Heavy Machining Operation

摘要

The optimal machining time parameters for multi-pass operations with carbide tool (P-40) on cast steel material have been studied. The experiments were carried out on double column heavy duty turning and boring machine and the parameters such as speed, feed, and depth of cut (between 5 mm and 15 mm), temperature, cutting force, surface roughness and tool life were measured. The experimentally obtained parameters were analyzed for regression analysis and the equations were obtained. The expressions so developed amongst the above mentioned parameters were further optimized for the numbers of tool passes.
