The implications of information technology infrastructure, for the use of electronic procurement systems. A research in Greek firms

Information technology investments on equipment and software across all business functions represent a large and stable share of firm spending. On the other hand, both the increasing emphasis on supply management by modern firms and the extended use of the internet in managing purchasing the last years, have given rise to the adoption of electronic procurement systems. These systems facilitate corporate buying using the internet and their use has grown substantially in all purchasing applications. In this paper, the main objective is to investigate the association between three specific models of electronic procurement systems and four main dimensions of information technology infrastructure. Data for the study were gathered through a survey of 170 Greek firms. The results of the study support the hypotheses that only one of the three models of e-procurement systems is positively associated with the specific dimensions of information technology infrastructure.
