Wester Beck - Flushiemere Beck

The region between the two becks contains a complex of E-W and NE bearing veins which have been worked very extensively by shaft and by hush. Most of the whimsey shafts are located on the line of known veins and their presence with their adjacent tailings spreads on the remaining land surfaces between the hush indicate that the area was mined prior to hushing. Some of the veins have been mined again after the hushing phase of working, the levels being driven within the hushes. In the region of the confluence of Hare Law Sike and Longmere Sike, at the head of Wester Beck, a cluster of shafts both east and west of the beck indicates the presence of several veins. The veins have been tried at about the horizon of the Little Limestone almost up to the Firestone Sill. No adequate plan is available, and there appears to be too many shafts on the west side of the beck to fit neatly into any simple pattern. Two levels have been driven from the east side of the beck at the top of the Great Limestone in the direction of the veins but no plan is available; the southern level is driven for Tarn Streak Vein. A small hush has been worked on the east side Hare Law Sike along the line of a NNE trending vein.
