摘要

The unified power flow controller (UPFC) has been proved to be an effective means for power flow in modern power system. Optimizing its siting and sizing becomes a concern when coming to the practical implementation stage. In this paper a mathematical optimization problem has been formulated for optimizing siting and sizing of the UPFC and a Multi-objective optimization technique has been used to find the Pareto optimal front. Multi-objective Optimization, by giving Pareto optimal front, gives freedom to the planner to find best-suited optimal solution. Elitist non-dominated sorting algorithm (NSGA) has been used to find out the set of solutions for the siting and sizing of UPFCs. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been shown on IEEE-14 bus system data.
