Sensor-friendly vehicle and roadway systems consist of complementary signal sensor and reflector or transmitter technologies, which provide information about the threat of a collision and high end multimedia services over a fast moving car. These technologies can be composed into cooperative collision avoidance systems, which can supplement or replace single vehicle-based systems. Millimetre wave radar is mandatory in every car to locate accurate position. Efforts are being imparted towards a convergence technology of radar and communication technology. The convergence will result in ITS (Intelligent Transport System) and other applications. We are trying to converge the communication technology towards radar and to achieve the interference free and clutter free quality remote images of targets. The system is tested using MIMO technology. The PC when fitted with 3 adapters are useful for providing car to car communication using its ADHOC mode of operation and supporting multimedia services. Additionally, Car to Roadside Communication is also established by putting the wireless router at the road. The windows net meeting software is useful for such services. Then we convert Wi-Fi N adapter for wireless communication having 3 antennas in MIMO configuration to MIMO radar to detect a target and to measure its rotational speed. Finally porting OFDM-MIMO transmitted waveform from a PC to an Embedded Target (SDR Board) and converting SDR board to an useful Embedded MIMO radar system to test the IF Output from the SDR board. The performances are tested satisfactory. Therefore, a smart vehicle will be embedded with communication & radar technology.
