Genetic and phenotypic relationship among growth and production traits in sahiwal herd

High and positive r_p and r_g among weight at different ages were recorded in all the herds. It could be surmised that body weight at 6 months of age could be used as a criterion for selection of higher weight at later ages in Sahiwal heifers. Negative estimate of r_p and r_g between age at first calving (AFC) and weight at different ages were recorded in most of the herds. Positive and significant r_p between AFC and 300 days milk yield (MY) were recorded for Karnal, Durg and Ganjaria herds, while the estimates of r_g between these two traits were positive for Karnal, Durg and Meerut herds.
