FREEZING OF BUFFALO SEMEN AFTER FILTRATION THROUGH DIFFERENT MEDIA IN TWO EXTENDERS

摘要

Fourty seminal ejaculates from five buffalo bulls (eight from each bull) were collected with artificial vagina at weekly intervals. Each ejaculate was filtered through sephadcx and glasswool. After filtration they were processed for deepfreezing usingegg-yolk citrate glycerol (EYGG) and tris-yolk glycerol (TYG) extenders. Sperm motility, live sperm count and sperm morphology were studied in freih semen (stage-I), after filtration (stage-II), after complete extension (stage-III), and after freezing (stage-IV). It was observed that filtration improved the freezability of semen and sephadex was found to be more effective in filtration as compared to glasswool. However, glasswool is also a good medium. TYG extender was found to be better than EYCG extender for buffalo bull semen freezing.
