摘要

Thirty-six freshman House Democrats - or roughly one-fifth of the House Democratic caucus - have expressed strong opposition to a renewal of "fast-track" negotiating authority as an inappropriate delegation of congressional authority over trade, particularly in light of the secrecy surrounding the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). That secrecy makes it hard to assess whether TPP negotiations will preempt domestic policy prerogatives, according to the June 7 letter to Ways and Means Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI). A copy of the letter was also sent to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
