UNESCO seeks Lipari pumice closure deadline

IN A RECENT UNESCO World Heritage Committee conference,the latest recommendations aimed at establishing a World Heritage Site on the Aeolian Islands,Italy include the cessation of mining and a deadline for the removal of all stockpiled pumice on the island of Lipari.The move,if and when enforced by UNESCO will put paid to the beleaguered pumice mining and processing operations of Pumex SpA.
