US refractory outlook positive

A recent report from The Freedonia Group Inc. of Cleveland, USA forecasts a brighter outlook for the US refractories industry "than has been experienced in recent memory." The report reveals that refractor/ demand is projected to increase 1 percent annually to 2,300 million US dollars in 2009, continuing a strong turnaround which began in late 2003. Chief drivers were identified in "the improved economic fundamentals going forward" and recent stability in the iron and steel market (recovering from that industry's collapse starting in late 1997.)
