Cookson announces refractories unit demerger and board shuffle

Cookson Group Pic will be splitting into two separate companies, demerging its engineering ceramics (refractories) division from its performance materials (chemicals) unit. The ceramics division is home of leading refractories producer Vesuvius International and foundry additives supplier Foseco. The move will result in two separate London-listed companies, the company said in a conference call in October. "The demerger is the best option for maximising the business," Nick Salmon, CEO, said.
