Severe weather has hit two of the worlds most important sources of barytes in China and India leaving the industry potentially facing significant restrictions. China's south and west have been hit by major floods in what has been one of the country's wettest-ever summers. The barytes producing provinces of the south have been in the centre of most of the severe flooding episodes. China has been hit by two back-to back major floods which have disrupted transport links to the ports. The areas hardest hit included the provinces of Hunan, Guizhou and Sichuan, and the region of Guangxi.
