THE WORLD'S LARGEST bentonite producer, Amcol International Corp., has acquired a 25 percent minority ownership position in Russian Bentonit Group, via Global Minerals, one of its subsidiaries. Headquartered in Moscow, Bentonit Group is the leader in the Russian bentonite market for iron ore pelletising (IOP), foundry and drilling clays and has bentonite reserves in the Ural and Siberia regions of Russia, as well as mines in Azerbaijan. It also owns processing plants near major markets in the country.
