China's fibreglass demands estimated to double

Increased use of insulation will mean demand for fibreglass in China will more than double in the next ten years, and the need for other industrial minerals, such as perlite and vermiclute will also grow, according to a new report by the Freedonia Group. The report, entitled Insulation in China, estimates fibreglass demand will increase from current levels of around 240,000 tonnes to around 540,000 tonnes in 2016. The mineral demand for silica sand for fibreglass will rise from 170,000 tonnes to 360,000 tonnes over the same period.
