Service Heat Treating got their name the easy way. This Milwaukee, Wisc-based MTI member is named after what they are - a service company dedicated to meeting their customer's heat-treating needs. It's been that way since 1974, when Service Heat Treating started operations serving mainly the heavy-manufacturing industry throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Just over 30 years later, they heat treat parts for industries such as automotive and heavy trucks, agricultural, mining and construction. Service Heat Treating has a long list of heat-treating services to offer their customers, including carbon restoration, normalizing, deburring, vapor blasting, copper brazing and straightening to name a few. Their specialties, however, come in the use of batch, belt and vacuum furnaces. Service Heat Treating's batch furnaces are good for short runs of parts between 1 and 2,000 pounds. They run several types of heat treatments, including neutral hardening, annealing, carburiz-ing, Quiktriding (ferritic and austenitic nitrocarburizing) and general case hardening.
