David Brown (no relation) has rekindled the spirit of the Aston DB5 in his new coachbuilt GT, based on a Jaguar XKR. John Simister finds out why. The idea certainly sounds appealing. Create a grand tourer, a handsome transcontinental mile-muncher, which looks like such machines looked when border-crossing was an adventure and speed limits were largely absent. Then build it on a modern, well proven base so it will work properly, probably rather better than cars of that past time actually did, and enjoy the best of both worlds, then and now.
