This is the Mindset, a plug-in hybrid designed by the man behind the Peugeot 206 and VW Scirocco. Peter Robinson tells its story. The car you're looking at is something of a shot in the dark. As yet, there exists no assembly plant to make it, or any R&D centre engaged in engineering it. None of the ￡135 million necessary to fund the project has been found, either. Which is why the Mindset plug-in hybrid sounds like pure fantasy, until you discover that the man behind it is one of the most successful car designers in the business. Mindset AG was established in July 2007 by former Volkswagen design boss Murat Gunak. It also has the financial backing of Lorenzo Schmid, a multi-millionaire Swiss entrepreneur who owns SpirtAvert AG, a Swiss investment company.
