The yellow mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks) - a serious pest of mulberry under Nilgiris hill conditions.

After the parasitoid eclosion, observations were recorded on the rate of parasitization, parasitoid developmental duration, progeny recovery/pupa, progeny production, sex ratio, female longevity, morphometric characteristics of progeny, and reproductive efficiency of progeny females as influenced by host age in parent generation. Age of E. bombycis was found to have an inverse relationship with rate of parasitization, female and total progeny recovery/pupa, male, female and total progeny production, sex ratio, and female longevity. Host age did not have significant influence on morphometric characteristics (except wingspan and male head width) and reproductive capability of progeny females.
