WEED FLORA OF SOM AND SOALU PLANTATIONS IN GOALPARA DISTRICT OF ASSAM AND THEIR PHENOLOGY

A phenological study was carried out from July 2001 to June 2002 on weed species found in som (Persea bombycina) and soalu (Litseapolyantha) growing areas of Goalpara district of Assam. Sixty-two weed species were recorded and placed under 21 families. Maximum number of weeds were found to belong to Poaceae (13) followed by Rubiaceae (6). The percentages of annual (48.38%) and perennial (51.61%) weeds did not differ much.
