Trebbiano fans hang in there

Trebbiano was originally grown in Italy where it is the country's most widely-planted white variety with around 60,000 ha undervine. It is also the leading white variety in France (where it is known as Ugni Blanc) with around 100,000ha. It is also grown to a lesser extent in Argentina (2000ha), South Africa (1000 ha) and California (200ha). In Australia, Trebbiano is a relatively minor variety and is used in the production of brandy, fortified wines or blended with other white varieties, and only rarely does it feature as a single-varietal wine.
